Kindergarten Entrance Policy
In accordance with Maryland State Department of Education regulations, to be eligible to enter kindergarten for the school year, children must be five years of age by September 1 of the school year.
Early Entrance Kindergarten Policy
Children who will turn five years old between September 2 and October 15 are eligible for consideration for the early entrance to the full day kindergarten class.
To be recommended for early entrance to kindergarten, children will need to demonstrate appropriate maturity in social/emotional and physical development, as well as developmentally appropriate performance in language and other cognitive skills. A team will thoroughly review each applicant’s information to determine if early placement would be advantageous for the child. The standards for early entrance are high to ensure that students are not frustrated by their advanced grade placement.
