Tree House Flag Installed on 9/11

On Friday September 11, one of our church members arose early to meet me before the children arrived in order to install the flag holder on the Tree House. During their drop-off, I would ask them "What new thing do you see today on the playground?" Each of them would look across and see the US Flag waving!

Each morning, the students begin their day on the playground until we call together for The Pledge of Allegiance. A key concept is learned through this: the idea of gratitude and respect. Learning the pledge is not just about the words, it is about sharing a moment where stop what we are doing, join together, and express our thanks for that which we cannot see (all those who came before us, who served and still serve).

Thank you to all who have worked, served, and died for the values of freedom and justice for all.
